De Reneva

A Fusion of Contemporary Creativity in Corsica

De Reneva was founded in 2020 by Prisca Meslier and Dumè Marcellesi in the town of Bonifacio, Corsica to celebrate the best of international and Corsican contemporary art. With the Bonifacio biennale, De Reneva OFF (takes places the years the biennale isn’t on) and the permanent Parcours Sauvage (instillations on a wild walking trail).

At the moment the second biennale, Roma Amor : Fall of the Empires is on and it is truly fantastic. The artworks chosen for the exhibition explore the concept of 'empire' beyond historical interpretation, delving into political, moral, and cultural authority. The exhibition traces Bonifacio's legacy through different dominations and even Napoleon Bonaparte's brief presence, inviting visitors to reassess the notion of empire. There are 20 artists on show, some of my favourite are the Bill Viola, Youssef Nabil, AES + F, Alexandre Bavard, and Basquiat.
